There’s something so special about celebrating a baby’s first birthday, and cake smash sessions are the perfect way to capture it. This strawberry-themed cake smash was such a fun and sweet session—filled with soft spring tones, tiny details, and the happiest little smiles.
As a newborn and milestone photographer serving Sacramento, El Dorado Hills, Folsom, and the surrounding areas, I love creating setups that feel timeless but still full of personality—and this one might be one of my favorites.
A Sweet First Birthday Session
We started with simple, clean portraits to capture those classic one-year milestones before introducing the cake. This is always one of my favorite parts—watching babies explore something completely new.
Some babies dive right in, while others take their time. This little one gave us the sweetest mix of curiosity and excitement, and once she realized the cake was fair game, it quickly turned into the cutest messy moment.
To finish the session, we moved into a warm bath setup, which is always a favorite for babies (and parents). It’s the perfect way to clean up while capturing those genuine smiles and splashes that make these sessions so memorable.

I recommend booking at least 1–2 months in advance to secure your preferred date.
